Summer 2025 Camps


Seven Directions has 10 Sessions of Summer Camps for kids ages 5-18 both at our studio and off site at various scenic locations! We have full day camps and half day camps. Full day camps include lunch time and nearly all camps include Animal Time with our resident animals!

To uphold this standard of inclusivity, we offer financial assistance and scholarships to families who are experiencing financial hardship, or who need assistance with tuition. Summer camp tuition is non-refundable. If you cannot attend camp as planned, we offer a credit towards future camps or classes.

Storytellers: Kids Theater Camp

  • Explore the art of children's theater in this fun and playful week-long camp! Students will engage in performance in a playful and low pressure format where the focus is on imagination and exploration as well as learning acting warm-ups and theater games to help spark the creative spirit and inspire confidence on the stage. Campers will work with our theater professionals to create a series of scenes and/or a short play with dialogue, singing, and dancing throughout the week, culminating in an end of the week performance for friends and family. If your child has ever wanted to try theater, or if conventional youth theater feels too high pressure, this is the perfect way for them to dive into theater arts in a developmentally appropriate, fun and easy way!

Outdoor Art: Wilder Ranch Camp

  • Meet us at Wilder Ranch for a week of art & games outside! We will complete an acrylic painting of the beautiful views around us and do drawing challenges every day! Hangout in the sunshine with other campers, play games and learn about Santa Cruz wildlife and nature! A fantastic way for kids to get outdoors while learning in a fun and creative way!

Animal Art Camp

  • Learn exciting facts about some of Earth’s most incredible creatures and make art of them! Our professional artist instructor will choose amazing animals from all over the world to share with the students and support them in creating art in a variety of mediums including pencil, pens, charcoal, watercolor & acrylic paint. This camp is not only a fun way to prevent summer learning loss, but also gives students a crash course in the fundamentals of visual art techniques. Each camp starts with a creative drawing challenge, includes an animal themed craft and ends with Animal Time, where we hold and interact with one of our 30+ live exotic animals!

Unarmed Stage Combat for Theater Camp

  • Join us for a weeklong unarmed stage combat intensive taught by a highly skilled professional with years of training! Students will learn principles of unarmed stage combat choreography, with a focus on technical execution and the character motivation underlying each hit. Every student will end the week demonstrating a brief fight set to a scene in a final showcase. This is a fantastic form of enrichment for theater kids & looks great on a theater resume, but also just fun for any teen interested in how fights are done on stage & film!

Anime Academy Camp

  • Explore the exciting realm of Anime Art in this class for Beginning to Intermediate anime artists! Using Copic Ciao alcohol based markers and Micron Fineliners, campers will learn how to shade and blend colors to create vibrant anime characters and learn about dynamic poses, dramatic eyes and highlighted hair! Level up your anime art skills and socialize with other campers who love the same shows, comics and characters. Each camp day will begin with an imaginative drawing challenge and end with a meet and greet with one of our 30+ live exotic animals!

Teen Dungeons and Dragons Camp

  • Go on adventures, fight monsters, discover treasure, and explore a mystical world in our Dungeons and Dragons groups! Students will learn to play D&D, one of the most well-known tabletop role playing games, under the guidance of a professional Game Master. Whether you are an experienced TTRPG player, or only know what you’ve seen on Stranger Things, everyone is welcome! Role playing games offer unique opportunities to explore ideas and develop empathy within a safe environment and are a fantastic way to build friendships and self-confidence. Students learn teamwork, creative writing, and improvisation, as well as building math skills, creativity and memory all while having fun going on an epic adventure.

Fairy Art Camp

  • Join us for a week of fun, imagination & art for kids who love fairies! Campers will get to create their own fairy world through a variety of crafts, games, creative writing and art projects while making friends and playing make believe. Each day we’ll do a different fairy themed major project that campers get to take home with them and the week will end with a fairy themed costume tea party complete with fairy snacks. Each day starts with a creative drawing challenge and ends with a meet and greet with one of our 30+ live exotic animals!

Journaling Through Collage Camp

  • Join us for a brand new camp for tweens & teens looking for new forms of creative expression! Fantastic for artists of all levels, journaling is a great way to document your life, develop art skills, and process thoughts, feelings and experiences. Each day students will learn a different technique to keeping a daily sketchbook. We will explore observational drawing and collage with found and collected materials. Students will also use their sketchbook to create a stand alone piece at the end of the week. Students can include writing if this is an interest of theirs as well as paints and colored pencils. The possibilities are endless and students can customize their experience to their interests and needs! Students will walk away with an understanding of a variety of methods of journaling to give them the skills needed to continue on their own!

Science Explorers Camp

  • A fun and playful way to prevent summer learning loss, Science Explorers is full of art, games, interactive science & engineering! Each day of camp will dive into a new interactive experiment: Grow your own crystals, explode volcanoes, dissect owl pellets and much more! We will start each day with creative problem solving engineering challenges and end each day with a meet and greet with one of the 30+ live exotic animals that live in our studio!

Session 6: 7/7-7/11

Teen Drama Intensive: Mutually Assured Destruction

  • Get a crash course in theater arts with this 2 week summer camp style drama intensive! Students will put on a vignette style play from start to finish in just 2 weeks. Learn acting skills, how to memorize lines effectively, explore both comedy and drama and experience the power of performing live on stage. This show consists of multiple short 10-15 minute plays that fit together to create one larger show. Informal auditions will take place on the first day of the program, and the rest of the 2 week experience will be acting exercises, scene rehearsals and a collaborative process of building the show, with a weekend of full scale performances on stage at The Santa Cruz Actors Theater at the end of the 2nd week. Everyone will be cast in at least one major role, some may also be cast in multiple roles to fill ensemble roles in certain shows. This is collaborative theater at its finest for students of all experience levels! A century's worth of sibling squabbles is boiled down into ten vignettes in this era-hopping tribute to family. Each short play explores a distinct facet of brother and sisterhood, from fights over who caused mom and dad to split (1985 - I'm Pretty Sure This Is Your Fault) to daring escape plots that only two sisters could pull off (1922 - Very Very Cold Feet). No matter the decade, audiences will see themselves in these ten distinct shorts about the undeniable bond between siblings through the ages.

Digital Character Creation Camp

  • Join us for an innovative digital art camp experience! Learn to design characters using Procreate for iPad, an intuitive and easy-to-use drawing program. In this camp, students will learn to create memorable characters using techniques from cartoonists and character designers. Learn the basics of the program Procreate first, then implement them with daily drawing challenges that inspire students to go beyond pen and paper. Together we will create our own characters and a background to place them in, informed by shape language and color theory! *iPads will either be provided to use during camp for a materials fee, or you may bring your own.

Forest Fantasy Art Camp

  • Let the magic of the redwood forest inspire your creativity in this exciting new camp that combines art, imagination and nature appreciation! Explore the many ecosystems of the Henry Cowell State Park while learning about a variety of fantasy creatures and making art based on them: Build fairy houses, invent your own cryptids and more! Each day starts with a fantasy drawing warm up challenge, includes art, games and creative journaling through the lenses of mythology and lore, and ends with play time at the river!

Rainbow Art Camp for LGBTQ+ Teens

  • Join us for a week of art and fun with other LGBTQ+ identified teens! This camp is for teens who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or otherwise to meet a community of other teens just like them! We will be painting, making Tshirts, buttons and friendship bracelets together in a safe and welcoming space led by art instructor and former Seven Directions Owner Moss Giommi. Moss will lead discussions and art challenges and we will also be walking to Mission Park to play games outside, as well as doing daily Animal Time meet and greets with our resident exotic animals!

Nature Adventure Camp

  • Camouflage in the forest like a squirrel, use echolocation like a bat, and walk like a fox during Nature Adventure Camp! We will weave learning, playing, art, stories and hiking into each day with different themes including animal adaptations, using our senses, plant identification, nature scavenger hunts and more! Henry Cowell State Park will be our classroom and playground for the week. Come with an eagerness to learn, explore, play and make new friends!

Pokemon Art Kids Camp

  • Pokemon Art Camp is a fun-filled week of Pokemon art activities! Each camper will create a Pokeball Terrarium with their own Pokemon friend inside! End of Summer Eco Art Camp

  • Join us for an eco-friendly week of fun and learning for the end of summer in this new camp! Create arts and crafts using recycled materials, explore science experiments about sustainability and play games to understand concepts like climate change. Each day of camp will start with a creative drawing challenge, include time for free play, and will end with a meet and greet with a live animal from our studio!
