Encaustic Painting Workshop

In association with Redlines Studio, Ben Llano Hecht offers bi-monthly encaustic painting workshops. Teen and adult students of all ability levels are invited to learn about and explore the fascinating process of painting with heated wax.

During the six-hour workshop, students will learn about encaustic painting in history and its contemporary processes. Topics covered include: selecting appropriate grounds, encaustic medium preparation, mixing wax medium and pigments, fusing techniques, using collage and "inclusions", and a talk on resources for setting up and maintaining a home encaustic workshop. The six hours are intensive, but highly enjoyable.

All workshops are held on Saturdays, from 10am to 4pm.

Students will leave the hands-on workshop with their own encaustic painting and a solid foundation with which to further explore this unique medium. Cost is $120, all materials included.
