
Summer Camps
Summer 2007 camps are now over. However, our 2008 schedule will be online by November. Feel free to peruse the camps below to get an idea of next year's program.
Summer camps incorporate thematic instruction with fun cooperative games at the institute or Mission Plaza Park. Camps meet 3 ½ hours Monday through Friday for one or two weeks, depending on the season. The AM block 9AM-12:30PM and the PM block is 1PM-4:30PM. Children may attend AM, PM, or all day. Drop in days are available during the beginning and end of summer. Camps are available to kids 4 and older.

The registration form can be filled out online, or a PDF version (with the schedule) can be viewed and filled out online, or printed and submitted by fax or mail.
Walk-in visits are encouraged; however, our hours are inconsistent.

KidStudio Summer Camp is a fun, creative outlet for kids. Kids choose from a wide variety of art processes, including drawing, painting, mixed media, and digital arts. Projects are introduced daily, but kids may choose to create whatever they like. Expert instruction is always available. Kids may attend all week or choose single days. All day enrollment is also available. |

Appealing to both boys and girls, Myth and Monster Workshop focuses on the world of fantasy with an emphasis in drawing and 2D media. Does your child like mythical creatures and fantasy environments? Harry Potter? Chronicles of Narnia? Do they love to draw their own fantastic creatures? If so, they will love the Myth and Monster Workshop! |
Session 2July 2nd–July 13th 9AM-12:30PM and/or 1PM-4:30PM

Using our extensive collection of live creatures, books, and animal models, students create a wide variety of ever-changing and evolving projects in both 2D and 3D media. Science and art are blended into a fascinating exploration that promotes respect for living creatures through visual art and scientific inquiry. |

ClayPlay! is our monthly class and seasonal camp that teaches kids all the aspects of hand-built ceramics. Kids work from life and their imaginations on planned and spontaneous projects. Work is kiln-fired and glazed or painted. |

Art Outdoors is our summer camp, emphasizing creating art from nature. Over the years, students have visited a wide range of Santa Cruz locations, including the Santa Cruz Lighthouse, Natural Bridges, Ocean View Park, Wilder Range, and UC Santa Cruz. Although painting is emphasized, kids also draw with pencils, charcoal, and pastels. Additionally, this camp tends to have more outdoor cooperative games. |
Session 5August 13th–August 24th 9AM-12:30PM and/or 1PM-4:30PM |
Does your child love to build things? Build It! Is our combination architecture and 3D art camp. Students design a building or structure and build it! Working in pairs and small groups, kids create blueprints, then build their design with wood, metal, plastics, and other materials. Working in small groups, each child has the opportunity to be a leader, and takes home their own project. |
